Station Accessibility Upgrade Program

Through Queensland Rail's ongoing Station Accessibility Upgrade Program, we are focused on upgrading our stations and facilities to provide a service that is accessible, easy to get to, and easy to use.

The Queensland Government is investing more than $500 million to upgrade stations across the South East Queensland network, to make them accessible for all customers.

Of this investment, $57 million has been allocated for accessibility upgrades at Fairfield, Yeronga, Yeerongpilly, Moorooka, Rocklea and Salisbury stations (F2S), to be delivered as part of the Cross River Rail project.

Accessibility upgrades are designed to provide a single access path from accessible station entrances to the assisted boarding points, achieved through platform raising and upgrading accessible parking and essential station and customer facilities. These improvements support many customers using our network, such as those using mobility devices, people with hearing or vision impairment, seniors, people with injuries and those travelling with prams and luggage.

Station prioritisation

Queensland Rail's station prioritisation approach will ensure upgrades are delivered to stations at key locations, providing accessibility benefits for a broad range of customers. The prioritisation process also provides the opportunity to deliver maximum benefit from associated transport infrastructure projects, such as transit-oriented developments at Albion and Buranda, the Kuraby to Beenleigh capacity study underway involving relocation of the Loganlea station, and the Cross River Rail project.
