​Segways and motorised scooters

You are permitted to travel on South East Queensland (SEQ) train services with your segway and motorised scooter at all times during weekends and public holidays.

Segways and motorised scooters are permitted on weekdays at all times, excluding the following peak times due to safety, customer service, cleanliness and capacity issues:

  • Between 7:00am - 9:30am towards the CBD but not permitted through the CBD (Fortitude Valley, Central and Roma Street stations).
  • Between 3:00pm - 6:30pm outwards from the CBD.

To avoid travelling during these peak times, all customers with segways and motorised scooters must complete their morning journey by 7:00am toward the CBD and complete their afternoon journey from the CBD by 3:00pm. Customers with segways and motorised scooters are permitted to travel in the following opposite direction avoiding the specified peak times above.

Segways and motorised scooters are prohibited to be ridden or operated whilst on Queensland Rail property (including level crossings, subways, ramps etc.), stations or trains.

Customers shall place their segway and motorised scooter onto the train themselves and must ensure that it is stationary and secure at all times.

Please note: If you are found travelling with a segway or motorised scooter during peak times, you may be asked to leave the train until an appropriate service is available.

Non-motorised scooters 

You are permitted to travel on SEQ train services with small non-motorised recreational scooters.

When travelling, scooters should be folded (where possible) and care should be taken to not block the aisle or doors.

Prams/Strollers

You are permitted to travel on SEQ train services with prams and strollers and parked in the priority seating area of the train. Please be aware of these extra safety measures when travelling with a pram or stroller.

  • park your pram or stroller in the designated wheelchair space with its brake on, and
  • ensure your child is secured in the pram or stroller harness.

If you are occupying a designated a wheelchair space by sitting or standing in it, or with bags, bicycles or prams, you must vacate the space for a person in a wheelchair.

Luggage and shopping

You are permitted to travel on SEQ train services with luggage and shopping bags, provided there is space to do so.
