Work continues within the rail corridor between Bowen Hills and Albion stations.
The temporary Brisbane Coach terminal is now operating.
The parking and setdown and pickup zones are shared by coach terminal and rail customers. We recommend customers allow more time and plan their journey in advance, including booking parking if required. Customer setdown and pickup is located on Parkland Boulevard and the station is accessed via escalators and a lift. There are three accessible setdown and pickup bays and two taxi bays on Parkland Crescent outside the long-distance train platform.
Extended customer parking is available at the Brisbane City Council operated College Close car park and the Cornerstone car park on Parkland Crescent. Car parking rates are set by the operators and we recommend customers check rates ahead of arrival.
Project overview
Cross River Rail is a new 10.2 kilometre rail line from Dutton Park to Bowen Hills, which includes 5.9 kilometres of twin tunnels under the Brisbane River and the CBD.
The project will unlock the bottleneck at the core of the rail network and it will transform the way we travel across the whole of South East Queensland.
Queensland Rail has a critical role to play in helping the Queensland Government deliver this game-changing infrastructure for our rail network and our customers. We are working closely with the
Cross River Rail Delivery Authority to ensure the successful integration of Cross River Rail with the existing rail network.
The project will deliver:
Cross River Rail's high-capacity stations will revitalise multiple inner-city precincts and enable a rejuvenated rail network across the whole of South East Queensland.
Cross River Rail will provide access by rail for the first time to Albert Street in the CBD, as well as The Gabba stadium, and year-round access to the RNA Showgrounds precinct.
At Roma Street, a new underground station will be the catalyst for significant revitalisation of the wider precinct, including the proposed Brisbane Live project, a new 18,000 seat entertainment arena.
Services on the Beenleigh, Gold Coast, Redcliffe Peninsula, Caboolture and Sunshine Coast lines are expected to directly operate through Cross River Rail.
The Cross River Rail program includes the
European Train Control System (ETCS), which is a form of Automatic Train Protection (ATP) signalling technology.
The ETCS Level 2 project will deliver a new generation signalling system to modernise the inner-city rail network and is an essential requirement for rail traffic travelling through the CRR tunnels.
As the future operator, Queensland Rail is responsible for successfully integrating CRR and ETCS Level 2 project into its rail network.
Shorncliffe line works
Works are underway along the Shorncliffe line to install the new world-class signalling system. During construction train customers can expect:
- impacts to the Curlew Street car park at Sandgate station
- changes to pedestrian access throughout construction at Sandgate station
- movement of construction vehicles and personnel within the rail corridor.
Some works require track closures to safely install the new equipment. These will be scheduled at non-peak times and over selected weekends to minimise any inconvenience. Bus services will replace trains where train services are impacted.
If travelling after peak on weeknights or on weekends, plan your journey by visiting translink.com.au, calling 13 12 30 or downloading the MyTransLink app.
Customers will be kept informed about construction activities including track closures, station access changes and works. For more information about ETCS, please visit: crossriverrail.qld.gov.au.
